When hard times strike, you may want to rethink your career direction.
This may not be possible if you are already half-way through college. It is not easy to make a U-turn and start all over again.
During recession or financial meltdown, some types of jobs will no longer be so important while others may gain more prominence or new types of jobs need to be created in the face of such financial adversities. You are fortunate if your college course is positively aligned to the job needs under the changed environment.
If you are working you may also be caught by the new circumstances under which your employer is caught. You may not find it any easier to change you career direction. The worst thing that can happen is that you find yourself among the group of retrenched employees.
However, if your educational background finds a job-fit under the new economic environment, you have a good opportunity of finding a new job.
There are not many things that are very certain in life. Having lost a job is not the end of the road. There are many success stories where people who were fired eventually find success and become multi-millionaires or end up very successful in their own right.
